Meet your Brow Artist, Jasmin
Hi! I’m so happy to have you here, let’s get straight into sharing EVERYTHING.
So backstory, think YouTube, makeup tutorials, doing my makeup for fun, that kind of thing. That’s what I always go back to when I think of my ‘beauty’ spark first starting. I always hated my eyebrows too, so at around 12 I thought I’d take it into my own hands to try reshaping them, emphasis on the ‘try’. You know that saying ‘eyebrows are sisters not twins’ well my eyebrows were distant cousins, but we all have to have at least one horrible eyebrow phase at some point right? I’ll save the detail for when I see you next.
Although I no longer do my makeup as a hobby, I still adore the confidence it can give you. When I have a full face, fresh brows and tan on the confidence is unmatched, I feel like I can conquer the world. It’s amazing what a few little enhancements of your natural beauty can do.
There’s no greater feeling than you sitting up after your brow appointment and I can see your face instantly light up, I watch the confidence in you glow. I know what it’s like to feel unconfident inside, and being able to impact your self-esteem is everything to me.
I struggled through high school, to keep it short and sweet my teenage breakouts turned to cystic acne and I lost myself. Thanks to my beautiful mother the opportunity to start a beauty therapy traineeship came up so I finished grade ten and started my journey in the beauty industry. I was fifteen, shy and nervous but so excited, finally a new beginning! I spent two years at the salon in my hometown, Busselton. Learnt all the ins and outs of being a good beauty therapist and grew from a shy teenage girl to a confident young woman. But I was ready for a slower paced environment, so moved on to a salon in a small town as a casual employee and focused on finishing my certificate at Bunbury Tafe. While working here I learnt that I thrive in faster paced environments, life threw a curveball and I broke my left wrist and fractured my right, this is another story I’ll leave for when I see you next.
After healing my wrists and graduating, I was ready for something new. I started at a well known salon located in Bunbury, my first job as a fully qualified beauty therapist. I became the therapist I once would have looked up to at the beginning of my journey and learnt mountains of knowledge within this salon over the two years I spent there.
I feel like eyebrows always came naturally to me, so I never really acknowledged my talent while working in each salon. I had a few clients come to me asking where they should go for cosmetic tattooing, not much was around and it sparked instant interest in me. At the time I was happy but I always knew being a beauty therapist forever wasn’t something I wanted, so what better timing to just take a chance? And I did.
After certifying in Ombré style, Microblading and Lip blush cosmetic tattooing I practiced every opportunity I could. While working full time at the salon, I would tattoo all day Sunday and Monday, working to build my clientele and trust in you. The support I received and still receive is a dream, I was/am determined to make this something. The reward I was feeling after spending hours crafting beautiful brows for you gave me motivation and inspiration I have never felt before and continues to. I dropped Fridays at the salon and then made my way to a part-time contract of three days, giving me the other four days of the week to continue tattooing. My background in beauty had taught me to understand what you want and need to achieve your brow goals, I know how to make you feel comfortable in my presence and trust the service I’ll provide.
After eight months of working between the salon and my business, I knew it was time to put all my energy into JLM Aesthetics. It’s hard to not have self-doubt in these situations, but my vision of what I want to achieve and the support I received in a short period of time was my motivator.
Once I took the leap I introduced all brow services; shaping, tinting, dyeing, I learnt to laminate brows. Providing everyone with the service they choose. The brow community is growing rapidly and I am so happy to be a part of it.
I get to do what I love every day, in the comfort of my home. I work everyday knowing I have made some impact in your life, whether it be that bit of confidence you were looking for or someone to listen to what’s going on in your life.
Thank you for being a part of my journey.
Xx Jasmin.
